Dear Customer,
It has been reported that new kind of Vishing attack is carried out by the fraudsters targeting Bank Customers stating that the validity of the Debit Card is expired and to renew it instantly click on the SMS link that has been shared through the SMS.
Once the user clicks on such malicious link, virus/malware is installed immediately on the Customer Mobile without any suspicion to the user both in Android & iOS.
Then this virus/malware is set to steal banking credentials, intercept SMSs, display an overlay screen (to capture details) on top of legitimate apps, transmit sensitive data to attacker controlled servers, among others.
This app can do activities in the background to intercept SMS's to thwart OTP based authentication, collect all the contacts and SMS on the device and siphon off to the Hacker server, can send specific SMS on the mobile contacts, can send IP/GPS location etc.
Please refer the below Smart Phone safety tips to protect yourself from such attacks.
NEVER click on links in SMS or MMS messages sent to your phone.
Go to Settings -> Security -> Turn OFF "Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store" option.
Always keep an up-to-date Anti-virus app on your Android devices.
Avoid unknown and unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots and Keep your Wi-Fi turned OFF when not in use.
